Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) Assessment

The HPI assessment is an inventory of the personality characteristics necessary for success in careers, relationships, education and life. It measures ‘The Bright Side of Personality’.

What it Measures

The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) contains seven primary scales, one validity scale and six occupational scales.

The seven primary scales are adjustment, ambition, sociability, interpersonal sensitivity, prudence, inquisitiveness and learning approach.

The six occupational scales are service orientation, stress tolerance, reliability, clerical potential, sales potential and managerial potential.

What it Applies to

  • Leadership development – the HPI includes a Leadership Forecast Potential report that can be combined with the HDS and MVPI to yield powerful information about a manager’s strengths and developmental needs
  • Recruitment and selection – the HPI is used as part of a multi-question selection process and it identifies applicants whose personal characteristics correspond to the demands of the work required. Safety and security reports can also be generated
  • Individual assessment – the HPI can be used to evaluate a person’s career potential across a spectrum of occupations

  • Based on the Five Factor model
