PBC partnered with a state government agency to design and deliver a comprehensive recruitment program for their annual graduate selection. The program attracted a high volume of applicants and there was a strong emphasis on evaluating candidates using rigorous methods and assessments to ensure that successful candidates met the requirements of the graduate role.


PBC conducted a thorough analysis of the capability framework and requirements of the graduate role to develop a comprehensive recruitment process for the government agency. The comprehensive design of the recruitment process ensured candidates were assessed against all capability requirements of the graduate role, while considering the practical limitations and resourcing restrictions brought about by the volume of applicants.

PBC utilised assessment methods that were thoroughly researched and demonstrated sound predictive validity for the requirements of the graduate role. Methods of assessment included application screening, online cognitive ability testing, and personality assessment. PBC also designed and delivered assessment centres that included structured interviews and work sampling activities.  As part of the partnership with the government agency to conduct a range of assessments, PBC trained the government assessors in their interviewing style to minimise bias and increase consistency in rating styles.


The government agency has partnered with PBC for two consecutive years since the introduction for the graduate program. PBC have received positive feedback from members of the government agency regarding the ease of administration in the recruitment process and the high calibre of candidates that have been selected into the graduate program. The government agency has also reported positive feedback from relevant internal stakeholders about the performance of graduates selected and have experienced a very low rate of turnover within the program.
